Sands of Time

Read Genesis 1:1    In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Read Genesis 1:26-28 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

God is speaking of  God the Father, God the son and God the Holy  Spirit.  All 3 in one.   So God is more than one identity.

Read St. John 1:1-14

1          In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word  was God.

2          The same was in the beginning with God.

3          All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4          In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5          And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6          There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7          The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8          He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9          That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10        He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11        He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12        But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13        Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14        And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

(KJV)

Note: Genesis was written years and years and years before St. John was written.

God sends his one and only son to come to Earth.  God loved the world so much, even though although many of man kind had their downfalls.  God had made the world and He loved the world, His creation.

Read Luke 2:7  And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Read Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, A Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

Make note of the different writers.  It is amazing how the different writers come to the same conclusion.

Read St. John 12:44-48

44        Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45        And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46        I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47        And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48        He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

(KJV)

Read St. John 14:13-14  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosover believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I.                   No one knows when their time to die might come.

A.      This last month, I had a precious little female bird.  She was white with patches of aqua mixed in her feathers.  I had been noticing that she was really breathing fast and heavy.  She also looked like she might have a tumor or egg in the lower part of her body.  She just wasn’t as spry as she used to be.

I called the vet who comes out to your house.  The vet came out that night about 9:45 p.m.  The vet told me to hold the little bird.  So I did.  The vet proceeded to diagnose the problem.  It was an egg inside.  The vet preceded  to try to get the egg out.  The egg was lodged inside and would not come out.   Finally the egg broke and I thought “She can get some relief now.  It didn’t happen the way I thought it would.  The bird started hemorrhaging and went into shock and within minutes, she was still and gone.  It is tough to hold such an innocent creature in your own hands, and then it dies and it doesn’t move anymore.  It did hurt and I buried her that night.  The male bird was hanging on his bars and very saddened, I’m sure.

You think of a little bird being a innocent being.  Jesus had taken on flesh, and he was innocent.  People falsely accused Him.  His blood was shed for sinners.  Sinners like you and me.

B.     A person can die just as quickly as the little bird.   You can walk out your door, and get into the car and it can all be over within 10 minutes.   Maybe a hit and run person.  Maybe it was an accident caused by the person who died.  Maybe it was a weather accident.  But it happened.

C.     God gives each person a certain amount of time and a certain amount of days on this earth.  Our days are numbered just like the hairs on our heads.

D.     One prisoner might say, “Well I feel safe in prison.  There isn’t any car accidents, that’s for sure.”  But you never know when someone might lose control, and everything all be over.  One could have a heart attack.  It happened to someone related to me.  She was just my age.  Everything was fine one minute and the next minute, she keeled over in her living rm. and died on the spot.  What if she didn’t know Jesus as her Lord and Savior.  Thank goodness she did know Jesus however.

II.  So in the beginning, God created all these living things.

A.     Somewhere in the middle, God sent Jesus, His one and only son to live on this earth in fleshly form and die for your sins and my sins.  Why?  So that we would not have to spend eternity in Hell.  And Hell is a very real place.

B.     All we have to do is believe that Jesus died for us on the cross of  Calvary & believe that He is your substitute so that you can spend eternity when you die in Heaven.

C.     If the Holy Spirit deals with you about your soul.  Ask Jesus to save you.  He will save you.  All you have to do is say “Jesus I’m sorry for my sins.  I believe that you died for me on that cross of  Calvary.  Please save me.”  Jesus will save you.   And you will be a child of His and you will spend eternity in Heaven.

D.     Tommy and I have a friend in the hospital as we speak, he has spent his whole life drinking and he is an atheist.  He is not doing well at all.  His liver is all messed up and he is about to pass on.  The guy is our age.  He should have had all kinds of years left, if he had taken care of himself.  Our preacher is supposed to talk to him I believe.

Time is not on this man’s side.

E.  Don’t put off waiting to be saved, because you might not get the opportunity.  If this guy is out of it, in the hospital, he may not get a chance.
